Silas Amaral, Yogi

You’re very intentional with silence, using it to fill everything between the music you play. That silence combined with your sensitivity in choosing the right “sounds” boosts our awareness during the practice and allow us to really feel the asanas with presence.

I also see how you’re intentional about the instruments combined with your voice. I saw you bringing drums when we put our minds on our ancestors, for example; I could see why you would do that — and solemnly you played it with silence between the hits.

All to say that the way I feel you share your music is not only by ensuring a succession of beautiful songs, but by building up a conversation — that happens without words. You also have a great vocal capacity, it’s beautiful! So thank you for our practice tonight, you definitely was a great conductor.
